'We had trouble identifying with the audience,' according to Co-Owner Shaun Doty, who also operated Bantam + Biddy out of the Buckhead space.

Chefs Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere have closed their Mexican restaurant and tequila bar ATL Taco.

The Bantam + Biddy replacement in Lenox Square Mall, at 3393 Peachtree Road NE #3065B, has been in operation for a little more than a year.

“We gave it our best,” Doty told What Now Atlanta in an email Friday.

Doty won’t be opening anything in ATL Taco’s place.

“I’m sticking to Midtown,” Doty said referring to the last remaining local location of Bantam + Biddy in Ansley Mall and the soon-to-open outpost in Atlantic Station (sister concept Chick-a-Biddy is switching over.)

“We had trouble identifying with the audience. Lenox was supportive but in light of our Bantam + Biddy expansion continued operations at Lenox couldn’t be justified.”

An outpost of the chicken joint is also on Market Street in Chattanooga and a location is opening in Concourse C of the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Wednesday, October 8.

A location on Amelia Island in Florida is in the works.
