Tava Indian Bistro later this month will close its Decatur doors, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Tuesday first reported.

The Indian eatery announced the news on its Instagram page.

“To our friends and fans, we regret to inform you that our food journey with y’all will be coming to an end after an incredible four years,” according to the social media post.

“This week we will be transitioning Tava to a new owner and will continue to operate under the name for a few more weeks. We thank you all for your constant patronage over the years. We are looking forward to our next chapter as we venture into other endeavors. We will truly miss our customers!”

Ankur Dharek is the new owner.

He is opening a location of Texas-based Bawarchi Biryanis in Tava’s place, at 1685 Church Street.

Dharek in an email to What Now Atlanta Wednesday said his restaurant will open “soon.”

It will serve Hyderabadi, Indian and Indo Chinese cuisines.

Bawarchi Biryanis has more than 40 restaurants nationwide, including an outpost in Sandy Springs that is owned and operated by Dharek.
