Two local businesses are teaming up to bring a shared concept to Decatur.

Bellwood Coffee is planning to open a full coffee bar and café space at Decatur Square. The café is in partnership with Little Shop of Stories, a longtime Decatur bookstore expanding into the next-door space that was formerly a Starbucks. The Starbucks permanently closed in 2021.

The Decatur café will be the fourth place in metro Atlanta where you can find Bellwood Coffee, joining outposts in East Atlanta Village at the plant shop The Victorian, in the Upper Westside of Atlanta in Riverside, and inside the 1776 Peachtree building in South Buckhead. In addition to their brick-and-mortar cafés, Bellwood Coffee sells their coffee direct-to-consumer and wholesale.

Little Shop of Stories opened at 515 N McDonough Street in 2005 before moving to its current, larger space at 133 East Court Square in 2008. Since its inception, the shop has hosted several notable guests, including actress and author Julie Andrews. The stories specializes in children’s books.

Other tenants at Decatur Square include restaurants like Brick Store Pub, The White Bull and The Iberian Pig, as well as retail stores like Squash Blossom Boutique and Boutique Karma.

Bellwood Coffee is expected to open at the space in late spring or early summer 2025.
