Dinkies over the weekend opened in Ponce City Market serving vegan Philly cheesesteaks and tots.

The restaurant is a joint venture from Pinky Cole of Slutty Vegan and Derrick Hayes of Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks. “Dinkies” is a play on the names “Pinky” and “Derrick.”

“Dinkies is the perfect whirlwind of Slutty Vegan ATL’s vegan comfort food blended with the world-famous recipes of Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks,” according to an announcement this week.

Dinkies serves vegan cheesesteaks, cauliflower wings, cheesesteak egg rolls, traditional tots, and sweet potato tots, all made with specialty Dinkies seasonings.

“I’m excited to join forces with Pinky Cole and bring my world-famous Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks concept to the vegan world in a fresh & innovative way,” Hayes said in a prepared statement.

Dinkies debuted alongside Bar Vegan in the Old Fourth Ward mixed-use development. It is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for take-out or while sitting and enjoying cocktails at Bar Vegan.

“Teaming up with Derrick of Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks was a no-brainer,” Cole said. “At Dinkies customers get to experience authentic vegan Philly’s that taste great. We are excited to bring this fresh concept to the Atlanta market, with future plans to expand.”
