Black Sheep Tavern and Oyster Room Moving Forward on Edgewood

The restaurant late last week filed plans to buildout space previously occupied by Eagle’s Nest Ministry Church.

Plans to open Black Sheep Tavern and Oyster Room in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn Historic District are moving forward.

A permit application late last week was filed with City of Atlanta to buildout the 5,000-square-foot “classic tavern,” at 330 Edgewood Avenue.

The restaurant will be situated in space previously occupied by Eagle’s Nest Ministry Church.

An estimated $350,000 could be spent in interior and exterior renovations to Black Sheep Tavern’s future home, according to the permit filing.

Owner Andy Kober in March secured a lease for the restaurant and launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $5,000 for the project, a goal that was achieved.

On the menu – aside from the oysters – will be appetizers like fried tacos, wonton mozzarella sticks, and queso with chips, and sandwiches like fried bologna, Philly cheesesteak, and fried peanut butter and jelly.

It’s unclear when Black Sheep Tavern will debut. The restaurant was expected to open mid-July.

Kober did not immediately return What Now Atlanta’s request for comment.
