Luis Damian, the executive chef at Big Sky in Buckhead, later this year will open Botanico Kitchen and Bar, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution (AJC).
Damian in an email confirmed the news with What Now Atlanta.
Botanico is targeting an August 2019 debut.
The Mexican eatery will replace the short-lived Rise and Revelry restaurant atop Savi Provisions, at 312 Pharr Road.
Botanico will feel like a greenhouse with walls of plants and a year-round, covered patio.
The menu will mostly consist of dishes from the Puebla region of Mexico including a few items with “creepy crawlies” like the Camarones Enchilpayados with an insect aioli made with chicatana ants.
Mezcal and tequila-based cocktails will make up the beverage program.
Damian told the AJC he and his team are going for more of a “high-end Mexican restaurant” like one “you might find in Mexico City or Tulum” rather than a spot with “sombreros hanging on the wall.”
Starting out, the restaurant will only serve dinner and could add brunch at a later date.
Botanico will be the second restaurant this year to open as part of Savi Provisions Buckhead.
Chef Shaun Doty moved his King Barbecue restaurant to the specialty market early-2019.
