A Brazilian steakhouse appears to be cooking up a new location in metro Atlanta.
Fogo de Chão is planned for Buford at 3206 Buford Drive, according to a building permit application with Gwinnett County. The space near the Mall of Georgia was formerly occupied by a now-closed location of the Tex-Mex restaurant On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina.
This would be Georgia’s third Fogo de Chão, which can also be found in Buckhead at 3101 Piedmont Road and in Dunwoody at 4671 Ashford Dunwoody Road.
The chain has its origin in Brazil, where the founders grew up on a traditional Southern Brazilian farm and learned to cook in the churrasco grilling tradition. They brought the concept to the United States in 1997, opening the country’s first Fogo de Chão in Dallas, Texas. They expanded stateside over the next several years, including with a three-story, 16,000-square-foot restaurant in New York City. The menu also expanded, adding seafood dishes, new Brazilian-inspired small plates, and wine and cocktails.
There are now about 70 Fogo de Chão locations in the U.S. The menu includes a variety of steak dishes, including filet mignon, wagyu, bacon-wrapped steak and more. There are also chicken, lamb, pork, seafood dishes and sides. Guests can also enjoy a variety of fresh options from The Market Table, like charcuterie, antipasti, and fresh vegetables and fruits.
