Brezza Cucina will soon open in West Midtown. The once-situated in Old Fourth Ward restaurant is taking over the Donetto space, at 976 Brady Avenue, according to leasing data obtained recently by What Now Atlanta (WNA). An opening timeline has not been disclosed, but given Donetto was similar in a lot of ways to Brezza Cucina — cuisine, design, etc. — it would likely be a seamless transition into the second-generation restaurant space.

When WNA broke the news in June that Brezza Cucina had permanently closed its Ponce City Market (PCM) doors, Andrew Cacioppo, the restaurant’s executive chef, told WNA by way of a prepared statement, the celebrated Italian eatery would open later in the year elsewhere.

While reps for Brezza Cucina and The Indigo Road Hospitality Group — the parent company of Donetto — over the weekend did not immediately respond to WNA’s request for comment regarding the move, a source with first-hand knowledge of the deal confirmed the news Sunday. It’s unclear when Donetto closed its doors for good, but it doesn’t look like it actually ever reopened after temporarily shuttering in March by state mandate to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

“Although the past month has been challenging, the health and safety of our guests and employees remains of highest importance to us,” Donetto wrote in a Facebook message in late-April. “We have decided to remain closed until further notice. We’re working with Georgia Restaurant Association, the C.D.C. and colleagues within our community to determine a re-opening plan for in house dining. Thank you all for your support and understanding during this time.”

Donetto’s phone has since been disconnected but its website and social media remain intact — although inactive since June. Within the same development a few doors down, Aix and Tin Tin have transitioned into a more neighborhood-centric eatery called Nick’s Westside.
