Things are moving along slowly but surely for the Red Light District Restaurant, conceived as a ground-up Buenos Aires-themed eatery off Piedmont Road in the Lindridge-Martin Manor neighborhood.
“We’ve got a land disturbance permit approved and will begin site work after the first of January [2020],” a DCA Architects contractor shared with What Now Atlanta (WNA) over the phone about the project status on Thursday.
“We have to tie into the sewer system on Piedmont and that is a busy road. We’ll also be doing some curb cuts.”
Owner Cesar Angeletti envisioned Red Light District (referred to as RLD on permits) to center around a woodfire grill and offer Argentinian fare, a “blend of Spanish and Italian food with a heavy focus on meat, especially beef,” he shared with WNA in 2018.
Now, he will have more square footage to do it, after a zoning change request was granted to reduce the required parking to allow for a larger restaurant build.
The square footage ticked up a bit from 2,300 to 2,800 square feet.
As for the two-story restaurant and basement, the contractor says, “we’re just waiting on the City of Atlanta to comment on the actual building permits and the timeline for that is unknown at the moment.”
