UPDATE (August 17, 2018): Busy Bee Cafe To Get $1 MM Build Out Downtown

The Busy Bee Cafe, an Atlanta mainstay since 1947, next year will open a second location, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) exclusively reported over the weekend.

The soul food eatery’s forthcoming outpost will be housed at 111 Trinity Avenue SW Downtown.

A post to The Busy Bee Cafe’s Facebook page confirms the news.

The restaurant’s original location, at 810 Martin Luther King Junior Drive, is only about 2.3 miles away from the planned outpost, according to Google Maps.

Most of the original menu will be available including fried chicken and sides like mac and cheese and candied yams, plus the addition of yet-to-be-seen eats.

Breakfast items will also be served as the new location adds daily breakfast hours to its offering; something not available at the existing outpost.

With 200 seats, The Busy Bee Cafe’s new location will be nearly triple in size of the original.

The Busy Bee Cafe has earned a spot of What Now Atlanta’s Elite 100 list for its affordability, consistency, and overall excellence.

  • So this will be located on the ground floor restaurant space, that has been vacant for years, in the apartment building across from City Hall? This will be a welcome addition to South Downtown. Your report is more accurate than the report from the AJC, in that they did not identify the quadrant in the address designation.
