Carrot Dog is heading to the Container Courtyard at Pittsburgh Yards later this spring, according to a recent release sent to What Now Atlanta. This location will mark the first brick-and-mortar for the brand.

Carrot Dog offers a twist on the classic American hot dog, replacing the typical hot dog with a whole organic carrot marinated in a signature blend of 16 herbs and spices. Menu items include the Slaw Dog, the Italian and Backyard BBQ (with mustard, vegan chili, baked beans, slaw and barbecue sauce).

Kemi Bennings is behind the plant-based brand. Bennings launched Carrot Dog and fellow brand Food for Thought Café in an effort to bring healthier food options to her community. Bennings also operates The Soup Bar, which offers vegan soups.

What Now Atlanta has reached out to Bennings for additional details.

Carrot Dog will join other forthcoming businesses, including Black Box Cafe and Adam J’s Grilled Cheese. Pink Pothos, Urban Grind Brew Box, The Creamy Spot/GOAP, Coffyn Pyes and Atlanta Bicycle Rentals are already open at the development.
