Arizona-founded Cheba Hut “Toasted” Subs has signed a multi-unit franchise deal for at least three Atlanta locations.

Entertainment lawyer Josh Burdick and hospitality veteran Justin Beatty (beverage director for Fifth Group) are the co-franchisees.

Burdick and Beatty are on target to open the market’s first three locations of the cannabis-themed (but marijuana free) restaurant in fall 2019 near Midtown, West Midtown, Reynoldstown, Summerhill, Edgewood, Old Fourth Ward, Georgia Tech, and the Georgia State areas.

Leases have not yet been announced but the first location will be on Edgewood Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward, Burdick in an email Monday told What Now Atlanta.

Athens could be next, he said.

It will take roughly 30 months before all three locations are open.

Founder Scott Jennings earlier this ear announced plans to operate 50 Cheba Hut locations by the end of 2021 and 200 nationwide by 2025.

Cheba Hut—now headquartered in Colorado and nearly 21 years old—is known for its “toasted” subs like the Kush, 5-0, and the Magic Mushroom.

The restaurant also serves salads and treats, like Rice Krispie Bars and Brownies, and “munchies” like Pretzel Nuggets and French Onion Soup.

A full bar completes the concept.
