Chi Chi Vegan Taco Shop is set to start serving its plant-based Mexican tacos this weekend. Atlantans can also find burritos, nachos, and rice bowls on the restaurant’s completely dairy-free, egg-free, and meat-free menu starting Saturday, September 5, when Chi Chi debuts in the recently-renovated One Moreland development in Reynoldstown. What Now Atlanta (WNA) last month first revealed Chef/Owner Chris Hodge’s plans for the eatery.

The restaurant, which touts itself as “Atlanta’s first and only 100 percent plant-based taqueria,” is situated in a 708-square-foot space, at 1 Moreland Ave. SE, with a “quaint, cozy dining room,” Hodge said at the time of WNA’s original coverage. With seating for 20 inside, the counter-service restaurant is also offering takeout or delivery, for lunch, and dinner to start. In the future, Hodge plans to add breakfast and late-night options.

Hodge on Instagram in late-August announced that the City of Atlanta had passed all of the permits necessary for the opening to move forward, offering Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms “free tacos for life” to celebrate.

Chi Chi is one of at least two vegan eateries coming to Reynoldstown. The rapidly-expanding Envegan eatery is also adding an outpost to the neighborhood in the Modera complex.
