A new CRU Lounge appears to be coming to east Atlanta.

A liquor license application for CRU – East Atlanta was filed for 380 Flat Shoals Avenue SE. The business is affiliated with Major Empire LLC, which was first formed in 2016, according to filings with the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.

CRU Lounge was created by Dennis McKinley. The nightlife spot and hookah lounge that began in Atlanta has since grown to locations in several states. Georgia locations include Alpharetta, Midtown, Warner Robbins, Peters Street, Edgewood, Albany, Columbus, Morrow and Decatur. The franchisee for the new spot on Flat Shoals Avenue is Ernesto Trotman, who told What Now Atlanta they don’t have an exact timeline yet of when the location will be open.

The building where CRU – East Atlanta will be located used to be Happy Donuts, which closed last year. According to the liquor license application, the 1,687 square foot space has room for 56 seats and is equipped with a full-service kitchen. (CRU has a menu of small plates and light bites.) The business plans to be open 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday, 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 1 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday.

The liquor license application is on the Neighborhood Planning Unit’s August 23, 2023, agenda.
