Socks Love Barbecue, located at 1050 Buford Hwy in Cumming, has changed hands. Steven Hartsock sold the business to Brian and Kelly Tam, the owners behind longstanding American bistro Tam’s Backstage.
“The Tams have already built a lasting legacy with Tam’s Backstage — known for elevating dining in North Georgia — and now they’re carrying that same passion for food, community and excellence into one of our favorite BBQ spots,” the Instagram announcement on the Socks Love Barbecue page states. “Here’s to honoring the hard work that made Socks Love Barbecue a go-to favorite, while cheering on the Tams as they bring their own flavor to the story.”
Hartstock opened Socks Love Barbecue in 2018, but he wanted to take a step back from the business to achieve more work-life balance with his family, according to Atlanta Magazine. When the opportunity to sell to the Tams came about, he took the deal. He told Atlanta Magazine that the Tams plan to keep Socks Love Barbecue largely the same as it is.
Socks Love Barbecue offers barbecue meals such as brisket, pulled pork, turkey, ribs and sausages. Sides include mac and cheese, fire-roasted cream corn, cowboy beans, collard greens and coleslaw.
The Tams opened Tam’s Backstage in 2005. That spot serves items like seafood, steak and pasta.
