A city permit tech confirmed Friday that a permit application has been filed for the location.

Atlanta Chef Scott Serpas, owner of Serpas True Food at 659 Auburn Avenue, is opening fast casual barbecue restaurant Dixie Q in Brookhaven.

Dixie Q will be located at 2524 Caldwell Road, the former location of pizza eatery Slice of Brookhaven, which closed last year.

The restaurant, described as “traditional Southern BBQ with New Orleans roots,” posted on its Facebook page Tuesday that it is now hiring staff.

Serpas is a South Louisiana native with an “honest approach to Southern food with Louisiana flair,” according to his biography.

He has received praise from the James Beard Foundation and GQ Magazine.
