After getting permits in place nearly two years ago, Edgewood Pizza is set to open its second location in the West End next month.

Owner Natnael Tekeste said he hopes to be open by the first or second week of April.

The restaurant applied for liquor, beer and wine licenses, according to permits filed with the city, and will be open from noon to midnight on the weekdays and noon to 2 a.m. from Thursday to Sunday. Tekeste described it as a “pizza bar.”

Edgewood Pizza is currently under construction in the Sky Lofts mixed-use, at 898 Oak Street SW, and while he didn’t have any updated photos to share, Tekeste felt the operation was running smoothly. It will be reportedly located in the ground-level retail space.

Seating capacity for the restaurant is expected to be 52 with a total square footage of just over 1,300 sf.

Tekeste felt the West End provided a great opportunity for the restaurant to grow and expand

“I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset to open a business of this caliber. We’re really happy with the location,” he said.

Edgewood Pizza’s original Old Fourth Ward location was reportedly shuttered for two years following an electrical fire in 2013. It reopened in 2015.

Tekeste said it’s been in there for about 17 years.
