Florida-based Effin Egg is headed to the Peach State. Owner Jeff Martin — who also owns the growing bakery franchise, SmallCakes Cupcakery — recently signed a lease to open the breakfast spot at 201 Ponce De Leon Avenue, in Decatur’s Shops at the Artisan.

The fast-casual restaurant specializes in breakfast sandwiches of all kinds — from the classic bacon, egg, and cheese, to a chorizo scramble taco — and is open until 1:30pm, in case you’re lunch break calls for a Big Papa Cheeseburger, which is exactly what you think it is: a cheeseburger with an egg on top.

Martin was not immediately available for comment, and no opening date has been announced, but it’s looking like the new Decatur spot will be Effin Egg’s second location, and the first one outside its home state of Florida. But if Martin’s track record with SmallCakes Cupcakery has any influence (the cupcake franchise now boasts over 200 locations), more Effin Eggs locations could be coming — or should we say, hatching — soon.
