UPDATE (May 12, 2018): Five Daughters Bakery Ponce City Market To Open on National Doughnut Day
Five Daughters Bakery, a new bakery focused mostly on donuts and coffee, is coming to Ponce City Market’s Central Food Hall.
The bakery will set up shop on PCM’s first floor near Honeysuckle Gelato and Batter Cookie Dough Counter, according to a press release Thursday.
Five Daughters Bakery is owned by husband and wife team Isaac and Stephanie Meek, who opened their first shop in Franklin, Tenessee in 2015 and named the bakery for their own five daughters.
They have since expanded, opening two more locations in the Nashville, TN area and one in Seaside, FL.
In addition to the new location inside Ponce City Market, the couple has announced another forthcoming bakery in Rosemary Beach, FL.
This isn’t the first bakery this week to announce a move to Atlanta from another Southern culinary hotspot.
Charleston-based Root Baking Co. revealed it would be moving to a “prominent food hall” in town. While Root Baking Co. focuses more on freshly baked bread than sweet treats, it will be interesting to see which food hall the company has chosen.
With the Five Daughters Bakery announcement, Ponce City Market already has two bakeries and the smaller Krog Street Market has Little Tart Bakeshop.
Where will Root Baking Co. land?
Five Daughters Bakery is known for its 100-layer donuts similar to chef Dominique Ansel’s cronut, which inspired long lines in New York City and copycats nationwide, including a version served by Dunkin Donuts.
Other donuts and baked goods will rotate regularly and be delivered fresh on a daily basis. Five Daughters Bakery will also serve coffee from Honest Coffee Roasters, another Nashville-based company.
