Flip Flops in Midtown has closed, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution Tuesday first reported.

Owner Ace Amerson decided not to renew the beach-themed bar’s lease after a ten-year run, according to a post on his personal Instagram.

“Ten years went by in a moment,” Emerson said.

“I honestly never thought I would make it to five years so getting this letter to conclude my ten is very special to me.”

The bar took possession of the space, at 1140 Crescent Ave NE, on July 1, 2008.

Flip Flops’ departure appears amicable between Emerson and the landlord Trillium Management, Inc.

“It has been a pleasure dealing with you for the past ten years and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors,” Kenneth G. Sauer, CFO of Trillium, wrote in a letter to Emerson confirming the lease expiration.

No word on what will open in the bar’s place.
