A sandwich chain is coming to a town in middle Georgia.

Jimmy John’s is planned for a space off State Route 49, according to construction documents. The restaurant would be about 1,400 square feet and include space for indoor dining.

Jimmy John’s first opened in Charleston, Illinois, in January 1983 with a menu consisting of four sandwiches: smoked ham and provolone, hand-sliced turkey, homemade tuna salad and capocollo and salami. The brand later launched delivery, the “freaky fast” service it’s now known for.

The first franchised location opened in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, in 1994. The brand’s franchise system now has almost 3,000 locations.

Atlanta-based restaurant company Inspire Brands acquired Jimmy John’s in 2019.

The upcoming Byron location comes from multi-unit Jimmy John’s franchisee William Amos, who operates four other locations in Georgia: one in Woodstock, one in Macon and two in Tifton. Amos told What Now Atlanta there’s no firm timeline yet on the opening of the Byron restaurant, but it could be in mid-2025.

This would be the first Jimmy John’s in Byron, a city primarily located in Peach County.
