Ghee Indian Kitchen, which has two locations in Miami, is planning an Atlanta expansion. It will open in a 5,300-square-foot space at 1050 Howell Mill Rd, Suite 109, in the Star Metals District of West Midtown, according to paperwork filings.
Chef Niven Patel and restaurateur Mohamed Alkassar are behind the concept. They opened the first location in Dadeland in 2017, and they have since opened a second spot in Wynwood. Patel drew inspiration for the concept from his Indian background as well as his travels. The team uses a farm-to-table approach for their menu, with a portion of the menu coming from Patel’s own farm, Ranch Patel, in Florida.
Ghee Indian Kitchen’s menu features snacks like green papaya salad and vegetable samosa chaat; breads like garlic naan; and entrees like smoked lamb neck, turmeric marinated fish and chana masala. The beverage program features cocktails, sake, wine and beer.
The Atlanta location will seat 155 and will have 31 employees, according to paperwork. The proposed hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday from 5-10 p.m., with hours extended to 11 p.m. on Saturday.
As of now, an opening timeline remains unclear. However, it is hiring for the location, according to Culinary Agents.
Patel and Alkassar are behind several other concepts that comprise their hospitality group, Feal Hospitality. Other restaurants in the group include Paya, NiMo Coastal Mediterranean, Italian-inspired concept Erba and New American restaurant Orno.
