Local spot Glide Pizza has a new location in the pipeline. It will join South Downtown along Mitchell Street in 2026, according to a tenant announcement on the South Downtown Instagram page.

This spot will join Glide Pizza’s existing locations, including one inside StudioPlex in Old Fourth Ward and a new full-service pizzeria in Decatur, which Glide Pizza opened in September. The brand formerly operated in Inner Voice Brewing before making the switch to a full-service pizzeria in that neighborhood this year. At the time, Glide Pizza teased that the subsequent year would be “the most expansive, transitional and thrilling times in the company’s history.”

At the new location in South Downtown, customers can expect to see New York-style pizza, served both as whole pies and by the slice. The menu will focus on thoughtfully sourced, high-quality ingredients, including sourdough that ferments for 48 hours and mozzarella made in house.

“We’re not trying to reinvent anything here—we just want to serve simple and excellent pizza in an interesting environment that feels like home,” Rob Birdsong, founder of Glide Pizza, said in the announcement. “We’ve always been obsessive about using the best ingredients we can get our hands on. That’s a big part of what makes Glide feel — and taste — different.”

The South Downtown location will feature a colorful, nostalgic interior reminiscent of old-style pizzerias, with design touches like vintage tile, a standing counter and a DJ booth. The new location will offer late-night hours.

Glide Pizza’s menu includes classics like 20-inch cheese and pepperoni pizzas, as well as pizzas like Pepp City (with fresh jalapeño, Calabrian chilies and parsley) and The 3000 (with pork sausage, capers and onions).

Birdsong drew on inspiration from Brooklyn slice shops to launch Glide Pizza in July 2020. He aims to bring the same convenience, quality and affordability to the Atlanta market through Glide Pizza.
