The Haitian/American fusion restaurant Zeke’s Kitchen and Bar is coming to Howell Mill Rd, according to a liquor license filed with the City of Atlanta. It is unclear whether this will be a second location from Zeke’s flagship in Smyrna or whether they are moving. It could be replacing Slim + Husky’s, which closed in the building in fall 2024.

According to the license filed, the location at 1016 Howell Mill Rd has a square footage of 3,900 feet and will seat 120, sure to fill the 20 parking spaces available. The proposed service team is 4 cooks, 4 waiters/waitresses, and 4 alcohol servers. The rent is $9k month, with the expectation that food sales will account for 70% of the revenue and Alcohol, 30%, serving beer, wine, and liquors. Zeke’s was scheduled to meet with Neighborhood planning unit E on June 3rd.

The application also established that the restaurant will be in the lower level of the luxury apartment building 1016 Lofts, which boasts a 91 walk score and easy access to nearby shopping and entertainment centers.

Zeke’s Kitchen and Bar’s intention is “elevating authentic Haitian dishes and fusing them with American favorites,” according to their website. Their current flagship in Smyrna has a rating of 4.7 stars on Google and Yelp, where reviewers compliment the food, cocktails and service team.

If the menu in Smyrna is any indication of what to expect, diners can expect crowd favorites, from more traditional Haitian fare like Jerk Chicken and Oxtails to Zeke’s remixed specialties like their remixed plantain nachos, rasta pasta, and Griot tacos. That liquor license will be particularly important when serving their Port-au-prince margaritas, coconut old fashioneds, and rum punch.

Ezechiel Jean-Lewis, who’s listed on the application as the restaurant’s owner, did not respond to multiple requests for comment. Calls to the Smyrna location also went unanswered.
