What Mammy Doesn’t Know Won’t Hurt Her

Home Grown, a new restaurant concept serving southern style eats for lunch and dinner, is opening on Memorial drive in Reynoldstown.

Taking space that was most recently Mammy’s Kitchen, Owner Kevin Clark hopes to open his family concentrated and community oriented eatery next Wednesday, May 19; just a few days shy of his May 1 projection.

“I grew up eating meat and three,” Clark said. “I spent most of my career in fine dining and now I want to get back to my roots. Just simple eating.”

Offering breakfast from a diner style bar and hot lunches, Home Grown plans on being open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Sundays, Home Grown will be open from 12-4 p.m. and will be dedicated to family style dining, or at least that is Clark’s intention. With a set price, food for sharing will be brought to the table. “You sit down, the food comes out and you eat like you would at home,” Clark said. “You know, comfort food.”

Some of the food items future diners can expect to feed on include fried chicken, country fried steak, turnip greens, mashed potatoes, hot rolls and cinnamon buns, just to name a few.

“Life’s hard, times are tough, the economy is crazy. I just want people to be able to eat and be happy.”
