Businesses across the country have faced ongoing economic pressures in recent months and now one long-running Atlanta spot has announced it will soon close. The restaurant is inviting guests to stop by one last time and also seeks support for their staff.
Agave Restaurant is Closing
Atlanta’s beloved Southwestern restaurant, Agave, has announced its upcoming closure. The family-owned restaurant has served the community for 25 years. Located near 242 Boulevard SE near Oakland Cemetery, it has been the heart of the neighborhood.
The owners shared the news on social media. They also thanked the community for its long-standing support. Along this journey, the restaurant has made some wonderful memories and is now inviting everyone to share them for the last time.
Opened in October 2000, the restaurant has been serving the community delicious Southwestern food. The restaurant also became known for its tequila selection and signature margaritas. It soon became the spot for celebrations and gatherings for the neighborhood.

Why They’re Closing
The owners also explained why the restaurant is closing. The current economic situation and unsustainable conditions have led to the closure of Agave. The rising cost of rent, food, liquor, and other essential services made it hard for businesses to continue.
Despite many efforts to continue the business, Founder Jack Sobel and his family had to make this decision. Along with the closure announcement, Agave has also shared an online fundraiser for their staff. The fundraiser is aimed at helping staff as they transition to new jobs.
The restaurant will permanently close on January 31, 2026. While there are no plans for reopening or a new concept, the community looks forward to their venture. In the meantime, Agave is inviting guests to stop by before the restaurant closes. All outstanding gift cards will be accepted during this time.
