$300 million mixed-use will be an “experimental” development from RCP Companies.

The top-heavy Metro Atlanta region will see new development south of the Perimeter.

Alabama-based RCP Companies has announced Jodeco|Atlanta South in a press release Wednesday. The development will be situated in the heart of Henry county, adjacent to Interstate 75 at exit 222.

Preliminary plans include retail and restaurants, an entertainment hub, amphitheatre, outdoor fitness and recreation areas, and “sophisticated residences” within an “amenity-rich, urban district.”

Jodeco|Atlanta South will feature 500,000 square feet of retailers, with plans to feature an organic grocery store – Perhaps Whole Foods or Sprouts, the latter which is increasingly popular in mixed-use developments.

RCP Companies hopes to attract “foodies” with chef-driven restaurants in a 12,000 square foot dining hall called Mt. Olive Market. Also in the works are two upscale hotels, 600 residences, and a 30 acre park.

The renderings depict a generous amount of parking surrounding the development.

Construction will commence later this year, with the first tenants opening doors in early 2017.

  • Henry county does not have the infrastructure it needs for this. It does not have clientele to support these restaurants either. They do not tip well and typically are closed minded to chef oriented foods.

  • This sounds like a great opportunity for Henry County. We have lived in McDonough for 2 years and love it. It would be great to have some of these amenities right in our neighborhood.

    Looking forward!

  • This is an excellent idea! Henry county residents are able and willing to support these types of businesses:) Please build some sidewalks so we can walk to these locations. We could also use an express bus stop at exit 222 that goes directly to downtown and midtown and Henry County would beat Buckhead as the place to live!!!

  • Unfortunately this is a bust but with the new proposed City of Eagle’s Landing this will come alive with the help from the County. This will take it away from the corruption that is going on with it being in the City of Stockbridge.
