A Mexican restaurant in Johns Creek will be transformed into a new concept that serves Indian fusion cuisine.
Sandeep Jangiti and Srinath Palarapu have purchased the business that operated as Mayas Mexican Kitchen & Cantina, located at 9775 Medlock Bridge Road, Suite A. The deal included the restaurant equipment, fixtures and furniture, along with the transfer of the lease.
Steve Josovitz, a senior vice president with The Shumacher Group, represented the landlord in the transaction.
Jangiti and Palarapu plan to reopen the 2,800-square-foot restaurant as ATL Pakka Local.
“We are trying to introduce something new,” Jangiti said in a phone interview Wednesday. “It’s an Indian fusion restaurant, so we are trying to serve our customers with seven different cuisines.”
That includes popular dishes from Mexican, American, Thai and Italian cuisine, which are blended with Indian flavors. For example, there will be a chicken or lamb tikka burger and a chicken marsala pasta.
“When we did our survey, we realized that [Johns Creek] was lacking some of the fusion food that we could introduce to the community,” Jangiti said. He added the team was drawn to the area because it is diverse and upscale.
They hope to reopen the restaurant in early December. It will be the first restaurant venture for Jangiti and Palarapu.
