Joystick Gamebar, at 427 Edgewood Avenue SE, is playing host to Atlanta’s “first and only” Halloween pop-up bar, The Freak Show Funhouse, according to a press release Monday.
The traveling carnival will open in the lot next door to the arcade, accessible through the back room of Joystick, starting Tuesday, October 16 at 7 p.m.
It will continue throughout the month, culminating in a Halloween Party on Wednesday, October 31.
“The Freak Show Funhouse is a twisted update on traveling carnivals with a Hall of Mirrors maze, DJs, special events, and modern-day freaks like ‘Gentrifying Developer,’ Instagram sensation ‘Ducky Lips Girl,’ and the frustratingly creepy ‘Faceless Grindr Profile,'” a spokesperson in an email told What Now Atlanta.
“It will include boozy hot cider, gypsy sangria, Hofbrau beer, Jell-O shots, and food from 95th Street Tacos.”
Leading up to Halloween, the open air funhouse will host a number of events including a costume contest and DJ funk battle that is a fundraiser for Metro Atlanta Taskforce for the Homeless on Thursday, October 25, an apocalyptic zombie experience created by Dystopia Rising on Tuesdays (16, 23, and 30), the three-year anniversary of eight-Bit Comedy on Wednesday, October 17, and a Wussy Mag issue release party on Wednesday, October 24.
The Freak Show Funhouse is 21 and up only, but a family-friendly version will be available to all ages from noon to 3 p.m. on October 27.
