Ken and Jeannette Katz, the husband and wife team behind downtown’s Buenos Dias Cafe, later this year will open La Bodega at the MET.

The Latin-centric market will be reminiscent of a New York-style bodega, Ken Katz in a telephone interview Wednesday told What Now Atlanta.

“La Bodega at The MET will offer a lot of the same healthy-oriented Latin food that we serve at Buenos Dias Cafe,” Katz said.

“We are very vegetable-focused.”

Fresh produce from local farmers like mushroom grower Loud Mouth will be available daily out of La Bodega, at 675 Metropolitan Pkwy SW Suite 4158.

There will be a “corner store component” with perishable and nonperishable goods including milk and pet food.

“The idea is to create a spot for a quick grocery grab so that our guests don’t have to go to a major market,” Katz said.

In addition to the groceries, La Bodega will feature most of Buenos Dias Cafe’s menu.

There will be 23 Pupusas (Salvadorian stuffed tortillas), tacos, sandwiches, fresh-squeezed juice, and a “big prepared food component.”

Housemade Ice cream is also a possibility.

A to-go window facing Murphy Avenue will serve as a pop-up during the summer leading up to the company’s opening.

Several yet-to-be-announced chefs will sell prepared foods from the window.

The pop-ups could continue once La Bodega opens, according to Katz.

“We’ll judge the popularity.”

The 3,600-square-foot space could open before the end of 2019, most likely in December.
