UPDATE (October 17, 2017): Take a Look Inside Rose + Rye, Now Open in Midtown’s “Castle”

Rose + Rye, the latest restaurant concept from Thad Keefe—1Kept Kitchen + Bar in Buckhead, Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft and Mosaic—is coming to Midtown this October, according to a press release Friday.

The restaurant will offer three levels of dining and drinking space in Midtown’s The Castle, the iconic mansion at 87 15th Street NE.

Rose + Rye will be headed up by an all-female culinary and management leadership team: Lindsay Owens, executive chef, Jessica Schilling, general manager; Seewai Sayavong, assistant general manager; Anu Adebara, sous chef; and Charity Everett, pastry chef.

Opening for dinner with lunch (and brunch to follow), Rose + Rye will serve “refined American fare with a global reach.”

The first floor of the space is “The Grotto” with a floor-to-ceiling rock wall as the backdrop to the bar.

Stairs leading up to the second floor reveal an open kitchen, chandeliers, and floors restored from original materials, where a larger bar area is separated from the dining room.

Elsewhere on the premises, Rose + Rye’s private event space features three private dining rooms, as well as a second outdoor patio lined with original columns and unparalleled views overlooking Woodruff Arts Center and Midtown Atlanta.

Built by Ferdinand McMillan the early 1900’s, The Castle is a historic landmark and one of Atlanta’s last marquis properties.

After acquiring the property in the late 1940s, Hazel Roy Butler opened the home to local artists, who often paid their rent with works of art. The architecturally unique building is known for its long-term connection to the local arts community.

  • My last visit to the Castle was for a networking event last year. The space is gorgeous. Can’t wait to see what’s done with this 3rd level and of course the food.
