The Milton area is getting a new place for sweet treats.

MilkShake Factory is planned for 12660 Crabapple Road, according to construction documents. The 1,467-square-foot shop would be located between Playa Bowls and The Twisted Thread consignment shop.

The franchise serves a range of classic and signature milkshakes, from simple flavors like chocolate and vanilla to more unique varieties like Campfire S’mores and Bananas Foster. The menu also includes sundaes, root beer floats and dairy-free shakes.

MilkShake Factory began as a small soda and chocolate shop in Pittsburgh in 1914. They later opened a chocolate factory in 1973, with the business continuing through the family for decades.

A chocolate shop was opened on the South Side of Pittsburgh in 1995, a location that would later become the first MilkShake Factory location. Dana Edwards Manatos developed the concept of MilkShake Factory in 2003 as part of a college project.

The company began franchising in 2023. There are now 11 locations in the Pittsburgh area, plus several more across the U.S. It was announced in 2024 that the company had awarded 100 franchise units in more than 15 states.

Roswell is also getting a MilkShake Factory; a location is expected to open there this April.
