The Mason Tavern space in Decatur has quietly undergone a transformation into Ms. Icey’s Kitchen and Bar, the brainchild of Sim Walker.

Walker is the New-York-City-born restauranteur behind Negril Village.

Ms. Icey’s, slated to open later this month, pays homage to Walker’s grandmother Icelyn.

“Shout out to Icelyn Walker AKA Ms. Icey, my grandma,” Walker late-2017 posted to his Instagram page.

“She worked hard, never made a lot of money, yet was never selfish nor greedy. Took care of and fed her family with what she did have. I used to go with her to clean people’s houses on the Upper West Side….I’m up to something, and this person is my inspiration.”

Walker and his team are currently fleshing out the menu for the restaurant, at 1371 Clairmont Road.

Over the weekend, Walker posted a picture of a Blackened Chicken Pasta dish and a “simple” Ceasar Salad, two confirmed menu items for Ms. Icey’s.

Walker did not immediately return What Now Atlanta’s request for comment.
