South African flame-grilled chicken chain Nando’s PERi PERi appears to have a location in the works at Krog Street Market at 99 Krog Street, Suite V, according to a recently filed building permit. It will take a 3,464-square-foot space at the address.
This will be the third Nando’s PERi PERi in the Atlanta area, joining existing spots in Dunwoody and Peachtree Corners. Nando’s currently has 46 U.S. locations across Virginia, Texas, Illinois, Georgia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Nando’s PERi PERi got its start in South Africa in 1987. It now has more than 1,000 locations globally. The chicken chain serves “always fresh, never frozen” chicken that is marinated in PERi-PERi chili peppers for 24 hours and then is flame-grilled. Customers can choose from a variety of heat levels. Menu items include chicken pieces, chicken sandwiches, bowls, cocktails and beer.
The spot heading to Krog Street Market appears to have a full interior revamp in store, according to the filed permit. Planned renovations include a full replacement of interior finishes, equipment and fixtures, as well as updated power, plumbing and exhaust systems. The spot will include a kitchen and bar area. The buildout is expected to be $500,000.
As of now, an exact opening timeline remains unclear.
