An experienced local restaurant owner is cooking up something new.
A new full-service concept called Casa Coya is planned for a space at 955 Memorial Dr SE. The site is located in Reynoldstown, at the Madison Yards development.
Joseph Rosales is the owner of the new restaurant. Rosales is no stranger to the local dining scene; he is also the owner of Pisco Latin Kitchen in Sandy Springs and part of the team behind Mambo’s Cafe in Alpharetta.
Rosales told What Now Atlanta they are targeting a late summer opening for Casa Coya. Coya means queen. The restaurant is going to be somewhat upscale, serving a wide range of dishes with Latin American influence. Think ceviche, oysters and many more tapas-style dishes.
“It will be a bit of everything – Peruvian, Spanish, Mexican,” he said.
Rosales is particularly excited for diners to experience the steak and wine options. After launching with an initial soft-opening menu, they plan to eventually serve brunch infused with Latin American flair, including picarones, a Peruvian dessert shaped like a doughnut, served with fresh syrup. They also plan to have an outdoor patio.
The restaurant is taking the place of Salt Factory Pub, which closed in fall 2023. The 3,400-square-foot eatery has a seating capacity of about 110 people.
Following his restaurants in Sandy Springs and Alpharetta, Rosales is excited to open something new so close to Downtown Atlanta.
“I’ve been wanting to go into that market,” he said.
Madison Yards is a mixed-use development east of Downtown Atlanta. Other food-and-beverage options at the site include Girl Diver, Taqueria Tsunami, Curry Up Now, Salata, First Watch and Daily Dose Coffee. There is also a Publix grocery store and an AMC movie theater.
