A new Mediterranean restaurant is planned in West Midtown, just west of the Georgia Tech campus.
Plans were filed in Atlanta to convert a former auto shop at 806 Northside Drive into a roughly 3,100-square-foot restaurant. It would also have street frontage along Marietta Street, including an outdoor patio.
A rendering included in the plans shows the restaurant called The Library ATL, but owner Saheed Ahmed said in a phone call that is just a working name.
“That’s not set in stone yet,” said Ahmed, who is also behind 1201 Cafe on Collier Road. “It may change.”
Ahmed added that the menu is still in development and didn’t have additional details to share yet. The team is working through the permitting process and hopes to get through construction in spring.
“Everything is still subject to change,” he said. “Early next year, around March or April, we will be in the position where we are coming close to completion. At that point, we will certainly be able to share more.”
The restaurant would join a collection of eateries along Marietta Street. Nearby is Caribbean restaurant Rock Steady and Vietnamese restaurant Le Fat, with other popular eateries such as Food Terminal, The Optimist and Bartaco just down the street.
