A new café appears to be in the works in Atlanta’s Edgewood neighborhood, recent documents indicate.

A project called Sunshine 365 is planned for 142 Whitefoord Avenue SE, according to a building permit application with the City of Atlanta. Some of the documents refer to the project as “Whitefoord restaurant.”

The project proposes the construction of a two-story, 3,480-square-foot building, including a 1,740-square-foot café on the first floor designed to “provide a welcoming environment for patrons.” The second floor would feature “employee support areas,” including storage and break rooms. The plans indicate that nine on-site parking spaces will be added to complement seven street parking spaces.

“This development has been thoughtfully designed to balance aesthetic appeal and operational functionality, ensuring an efficient and inviting environment for both employees and patrons,” according to construction plans.

Local firm Lightroom is listed as the architect of record for the project.

The site at the corner of Whitefoord Avenue SE and Woodbine Avenue SE is located across from the popular Mexican restaurant El Tesoro.

The property is owned by Sara ThurstonWhat Now Atlanta has reached out to Thurston to learn more about the project.

Sunshine 365, LLC was first created in May 2022, according to a filing with the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.
