Iconic Buckhead restaurant files plans for $1.3 million fire restoration.
OK Cafe’s closure has left us so hungry we could eat the north end of a south bound cow.
The beloved Buckhead restaurant founded in 1987 was forced to shut its doors after a devastating electrical fire in December, leaving our stomachs empty and our hearts full.
But visions of OK Cafe’s delicious southern diner fare will soon become reality again.
A building permit application was filed with City of Atlanta Wednesday to make “interior restorations” for the popular cafe, at 1248 West Paces Ferry Road.
“We pledge to build OK Cafe back to be better than before,” according to a message posted to the restaurant’s website. “We’ll keep the website posted as additional information regarding the re-opening becomes available.”
An estimated $1,300,000 will be spent restoring the restaurant from fire damage received last year.
OK Cafe should reopen this summer, according to the restaurant’s website. OK Cafe and Horizon Co., the construction company that filed the permit, were not immediately available for comment.
