Spread Bagelry is looking to add its second store in Georgia — and first in Atlanta — with plans to open in a 2,500-square-foot space at 47 Irby Ave., according to filed permits.
The brand currently has 16 locations across four states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, South Carolina and Georgia. Twelve of the 16 locations are in Spread Bagelry’s home state of Pennsylvania. Currently, the only spot in Georgia is in Savannah.
Spread Bagelry launched in 2010, bringing Montreal-style wood-fired bagels to Philadelphia.
“Spread Bagelry has grown into a destination for anyone who craves the distinctive taste and texture of bagels made from the highest-quality ingredients, boiled with a touch of honey and baked by the fire,” the website states. “We’re known for our warm – but efficient – service, and we look forward to welcoming new Spreadheads as we continue to grow.”
The menu features all-day breakfast bagel sandwiches, ranging from The Classic (a bagel with smoked Nova Salmon or whitefish salad, cream cheese, tomato, onion and capers) to The BLT (a bagel with crispy smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato and garlic mayo). They also have a classic selection of bagels such as whole wheat, sesame and poppy, as well as a selection of spreads including veggie, scallion and pistachio honey.
Recently, Spread Bagelry has been undergoing some changes as it seeks to grow. The brand recently brought in new CEO Thomas Selementi, who is looking to usher the brand into a new era of expansion. Growth in markets like Atlanta is part of his larger vision, as well as in other markets along the East Coast.
An exact timeline has not been revealed for the Atlanta store. A spokesperson with Spread Bagelry told What Now Atlanta that they would be releasing further information in the coming months.
