Midtown pizza shuffle also welcomes Varuni Napoli

Pizza restaurant Piola has closed its doors in Midtown, Eater Atlanta first reported.

The international franchise with locations from Turkey to Brazil maintains eight in the U.S. (including Miami, D.C., and New York City).

A pizzeria out of New York, Ribalta will replace the restaurant near the corner of Peachtree and 11th Street.

In other Midtown pizza news, Varuni Napoli will open Wednesday, April 23, around the corner from Piedmont and Monroe (near the newest section of Piedmont Park).

The Neapolitan-style restaurant comes from former Antico pizzaiolo Luca Varuni and will feature pizzas, antipasti, a selection of Italian desserts, and a carry-out window.

  • Good Pizza. Shame. Ribalta will have to distinguish itself because of Cucina Aselina across street.

  • I’m sad to hear this… They are raising the prices & taking away their signature “ladies night” on Wednesday. This is Atlanta, not New York. You can’t upcharge the same prices here. Piola and Ribalta are owned by the same people..I feel like this was a poor decision for their Atlanta location.

  • Further proof that Atlantans just do not support restaurants like Miami, Dallas, and other cities do. Cheap group of citizens here.
