UPDATE (June 12, 2017): The Canteen Now Open in Midtown

Plans to open The Canteen, a “micro food hall” in Midtown, are moving forward.

A building permit application was filed with City of Atlanta this week to buildout the concept in space formerly occupied by The Spence, a restaurant collaboration between Concentrics and Chef Richard Blais.

An estimated $400,000 could be spent building out The Canteen’s 3,831-square-foot layout at 75 5th Street NW, in Tech Square.

Upgrades to the space, which would feature outposts of Fred’s Meat & BreadYallaTGM Bagel, and Square Bar, include a “new dining room, sales bar and counter.”

All of the concepts included in The Canteen food hall are from the owners of The General Muir and West Egg and is meant to serve as “a casual, comfortable community hub that can be used by different folks in the neighborhood in different ways…” the company in a prepared statement said at the time of the announcement last year.

The Canteen is expected to open April 2017.
