Doesn’t Matter If You Say Tomato Or Tomahto Now…

Pomodoro, a classic Italian restaurant located at Morningside Village on North Highland Ave., ceased operation this past Tuesday, April 27.

Adjacent to Yoforia and across the street from Rosebud, this sudden closure seems to be the result of slow to non-existent business, according to nearby business owners.

With plans to open a new concept in Lilburn, the owners of Pomodoro left a sign on the main entrance and a voicemail greeting informing customers of this move.

If their spelling is any indication of the food they offered, we are not at all surprised that they have closed.

  • It was a nice little neighborhood spot and they will be missed. We used to go there for pizza, but they lost our business as soon as Antico opened… not to mention there are better dining options nearby like Doc Chey’s, Alon’s and the aforementioned Rosebud (which has really captured much of the neighborhood).

The location would be ideal for a good beer bar (a la The Brick Store Pub) if one was able to combine spaces with the closed frame shop next door. I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

  • Bad spelling, great food. This sucks. Needed a pizza tonight and they were first on our list. Don’t knock the independent businessperson and/or immigrant trying to make it happen. I thought the owners were really nice and made a damn good pizza – great Italian food by way of India (I think).
