On the heels of news that Java Cats Cafe is expanding OTP, office-worker-turned-entrepreneur Samantha Logan is pouncing on the cat lounge trend with plans to launch Pounce House Coffee and Cat Lounge.
“We’re working on finding a location in the Alpharetta, Johns Creek area,” Logan Wednesday told What Now Atlanta in a telephone interview.
“Several of the landlords we’ve approached don’t like the idea of having cats on site.”
Logan is leaving the corporate job she’s held for 11 years to open Pounce House, she said.
“I adore cats and was looking for something new to do. Life is too short and with Pounce House, we can help cats find loving homes and get them out of shelters.”
As with other cat lounge concepts, the 2,000-square-foot Pounce House will charge a small admission to visit with resident felines, which will include a free drip coffee or tea.
The lounge, in partnership with Angels Among Us (a network of volunteers and foster homes), will at any time have up to 20 cats on site and will be designed to feel “warm” with “big fluffy couches and furniture, and a fireplace.”
“We want you to feel like you’re at home.”
Pounce House hopes to offer wine and beer in addition to a small variety of pastries.
Logan, the owner of one cat, two dogs, a bird, rabbits, and chickens, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the concept with a goal of raising $18,000.
