‘Preserving Place’ to open at Westside Provisions District

Retailer and interactive teaching kitchen coming to West Midtown.

Preserving Place in a press release Thursday announced plans to open at Westside Provisions District in August.

The retailer and interactive teaching kitchen, will offer cooking classes, specialty cooking supplies and house-produced preserved foods, according to the release.

“My mission is to source produce from local farmers and preserve Southern food heritage through recipes, foods and traditions,” Martha McMillin, owner of Preserving Place, said in the release.

“I want Preserving Place to be an inviting spot where people can gather and learn about preserving techniques.”

Preserving Place will occupy a 2,200-square-foot space on the plaza level of the 1170 building. The interior décor will include a large, community gathering table, the release notes.

Architecture and interior design for the space has been awarded to Square Feet Studio, a firm that specializes in retail and hospitality design.
