UPDATE (Oct. 31, 2016): Mi Cocina Midtown Abruptly Shutters.

Texas-based Tex-Mex restaurant Mi Cocina is making final preparations to open its Midtown location.

The restaurant submitted two building permit applications with City of Atlanta to make commercial alterations to its south facing corner space, at 11th and Peachtree Street, in the 12th and Midtown development.

Mi Cocina is spending an estimated $1.5 million to build the 8,800-square-foot space including an outdoor seating area and mezzanine, according to one of the building permit applications.

“Mi Cocina’s design will complement the modern architecture boasting an urban and polished feel in a warm, high energy environment,” a Mi Cocina spokesman said in a statement to What Now Atlanta Tuesday.

The two-level restaurant has 265 seats, including a 40-seat bar with banquettes, tables and bar stools and two private dining rooms.
