Chicago-based Rickette’s World Famous Chicken, Fish, & BBQ is expanding to Atlanta with a location at 2740 Greenbriar Parkway Southwest. Founder Gus Rickette told What Now Atlanta that the opening is slated for January 2021. A banner hanging at the space, previously home to a Cricket Wireless, promotes a December 2020 debut.

With a menu entailing wings, rib tips, catfish, shrimp, and sides like coleslaw, potato salad, and jalapeno poppers, Rickette said, “We are a real Chicago-style restaurant.” Rickette’s currently has four locations in the Chicago area and could have a second Atlanta-area outpost by 2022. Rickette doesn’t have any specific neighborhoods on the table just yet for the second local store, however.

Rickette’s wife, Tracey, is also joining the new Atlanta-based business with her company, Guilty Pleasurez Cocktail Cupcakes. Her bakery merged with Rickette’s and will offer a menu of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic desserts at the new location.

Rickette founded his restaurant in 2017 after working for several years in the family-owned and -operated Uncle Remus Chicken and BBQ, founded by Rickette’s parents, Gus and Mary, in 1964. “I branched off from my family and started my own brand because I wanted to offer a variety of food that our current Uncle Remus brand wasn’t offering,” Rickette said. His brand has since won several accolades, including at the Chicago WingOut contest.
