An all-in-one fitness stop is headed to East Atlanta. Roundhouse Kickboxing, a boutique fitness center and boxing gym, is setting up shop at 749 Moreland Avenue, on the corner of Moreland and Ormewood Avenues.
Co-owners Jordan McCray and Mario Richards say the idea to start a kickboxing gym was born out of their simultaneous love of fitness and resentment of the treadmill. “Getting on the treadmill and running for 30 minutes is bad on my knees, boring, and repetitive,” says McCray. “I happened to stumble on some kickboxing classes and I instantly fell in love. At Roundhouse, we want to turn cardio into something people can look forward to every day.”
But Roundhouse won’t just be your typical kickboxing gym. McCray and Richards are committed to improving their members’ lives from the inside out. In addition to offering small group kickboxing glasses, Roundhouse will work with their members to develop fitness and health regimens to meet their specific goals, and will offer personal training, self defense, and meal and exercise plans. McCray and Richards have even partnered with a nutrition coach to ensure that their members stick to their health regimens and meet their goals.
“We really want to give back to the East Atlanta community,” says Richards, “and provide a fun, effective option for community members to get in shape and stay healthy.”
McCray says that, sometime in the near future, he also hopes to partner with local caterers to offer healthy, fresh, grab-and-go meals at Roundhouse Kickboxing, so members can get a sweat in and then grab a good meal on their way out. “We really want to provide our members with an extensive lifestyle plan,” says McCray. “Everything from home workouts, to meal plans and nutrition coaches, to group fitness, we’ll do it.”
Roundhouse Kickboxing is expected to open on August 23rd. Early members will get special access to free giveaways and fitness classes, so you may want to sign up ASAP. And given the boutique gym’s location (it neighbors both Morelli’s Ice Cream and Endulge Cupcake Boutique), you’ll probably want that nutrition coach to keep you on track.
