Rreal Tacos, the popular Midtown restaurant, changed ownership in 2021, according to a liquor license application filed with the City of Atlanta. Originally opened by Adrian Villarreal in 2015 —the taqueria’s name is a riff on Villarreal’s—Rreal Tacos is now owned and operated by Damian Otero Reggiori and partners.

What Now Atlanta reached Reggiori for comment, and he confirmed the change in ownership but declined to say more. A filing for the LLC listed on the liquor license application indicates the company that took over the eatery was formed in June of 2021.

It seems Rreal Tacos has not missed a beat, however, and the restaurant continues to serve mouth-watering bites like the Quesabirria, al pastor tacos, and elote. Be it asada, carnitas, or beef barbacoa, all your taco desires can be stuffed into handmade, charred corn tortillas and topped with salsa, organic cilantro, onion, and lime. Rreal Tacos even has dessert covered, with your choice of Platano Macho, sweet plantains served with sweet cream and brown sugar, or Tres Leche, a sweet sponge cake served with Chantilly cream.

And we can’t forget the drink menu—you can find pitchers of sangria and mojitos, not to mention steins of michelada. House-made strawberry-infused tequila is on the menu in addition to margarita varietals like mango, spicy, passion fruit, and, of course, the Rreal Margarita.
