Stanley Harris runs a busy BBQ concept, Superior Smoke, that operates entirely online — but now he has his eyes set on his very first sit-down restaurant, located at 722 Collins Hill Rd in Lawrenceville.
The space, according to Harris, has been vacant since 2004 — meaning there is a lot in terms of work that needs to be done in order to be ready for a move-in, such as having entirely new flooring installed. The restaurant owner is very excited to open in a location in the vicinity of “everything” while being close to home. “I want my food to match the actual restaurant,” he told What Now Atlanta of the ultimate goal of the renovations.
Harris was previously a military combat vet who retired here in Georgia. This was something he wanted to do, planting his roots in Atlanta. “We’re still trying to build a base here in Lawrenceville,” he said. “Planning on moving into the city in the future while trying to establish Lawrenceville as my home base.”
Superior Smoke offers the usual BBQ fare: ribs, brisket, honey-baked or smoked ham, and Boston butt — along with a vegan option, smoked Jack Fruit. You may also order crab salad, which can feed up to 25 people. Typically, these items are purchased in bulk servings to feed the whole family — but Superior Smoke’s brick-and-mortar will operate much more like a restaurant.
Since Superior Smoke is an online-based business, why not include their website in this cover story?
