An authentic sushi and Korean barbecue restaurant appears to be expanding to Gainesville.

E-Gyu Revolving Sushi & BBQ is planned for 635 Jesse Jewell Parkway. The space used to be occupied by a Shoney’s restaurant and then Hong Kong King Buffet.

This would be the second location for E-Gyu Revolving Sushi & BBQ, which can also be found in Atlanta at 5979 Buford Highway. The menu includes sushi and a variety of meats, including beef, lamb, chicken and seafood, delivered right to your table. Cocktails, beer and wine are also available, as well as desserts like cake and mochi ice cream.

According to the restaurant website, they aim to create a “sophisticated, yet welcoming” environment, with dishes that adhere to “the Japanese virtue of serving natural and healthy meals.” The all-you-can-eat format has a flat price of $39.99 per person ($19.99 for kids).

The new location is expected to be open by the end of 2024 or early next year.
